In the case of a mainline failure this technique significantly reduces the backup fall height, since only half of the backup loops engage. While the intact half of the main webbing can still provide bounce and therefore dampens the peak forces, a backup fall becomes much safer compared to a non-connected rig. Of course you should always inspect your rig regularly for potential weak spots like abrasion, but in case of a mainline failure still happening, this will reduce the impact forces on the anchors and your body. \n\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cblockquote\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eTypeX\u003c\/b\u003e is a sewn connection that firmly connects main and backup webbing with a robust stitch. It's easy to produce, extremely lightweight and cheap. This is especially helpful if you opt for the more expensive Dyneemite PRO backup: Once you retire your main webbing after it's played out, simply get a new main webbing and keep using your backup! We sew the DLV at the 25m mark from the static side, so the connection doesn't get in the way of the TrickZone.
